8 HOME DECOR ITEMS AND OBJECTS I LOVE

Happy New Year!!

Consider this my official day back from a loooooonng vacation (Oh, how I wish)! This is my first blog of the year and it truly feels great to be back. In the last few weeks I found myself missing the thrill of putting my thoughts down. So here I am, a tad bit late but showing up with something light and easy; I think you will enjoy!

2022 started with a bang. I was still recovering from arguably one of my best years yet. A bunch of exciting new opportunities opened up late last year, all of which required a heavy investment of my time. Sadly blogging did not make the cut as a high priority. Things have since calmed down and I feel better settled into the new year even with the weight of the new responsibilities. So just this once, let’s play pretend and forget I skipped out on January and honestly, February…Eek!!

Surrounding your home with things you love, sets the mood for an even more elevated experience whether it be by yourself, or with your lover or a group of your friends. February being famously known as the month of love, I thought what better way to honor it than by sharing a few décor pieces and items that I’ve been loving. I hope this inspires both you and your home especially when your decorating foundation is running dry.

So here are 8 items and objects I’ve been loving

  1. The Baies Room Spray by Diptyque

I got this room spray last Christmas and I was immediately taken by it. It is a famous scent of the French brand, a respectful blend of rose and blackcurrant leaves and buds. However, it does lean more towards the berries side. It’s fruitiness therefore enlightens and make a room more livelier. I use mine in the living room and it's the first thing I spray on the curtains and couch after opening the door and windows. It immediately awakes the room and helps to  fully awaken my senses too!

2. DIY Cloud Mirror

I do not consider myself a DIY queen but boy, was I impressed with the DIY cloud mirror I made last year. It has to be one of my favorite home décor objects because not only is it super practical but the babe is a whole vibe!!! She really is the show stopper, no one enters my home and doesn't mention the mirror. I will be loving her for a long time!

3. Collection 93 Candle by Candles & Chai

I am a candle lover, a candle enthusiast, a candlemaker. If it isn't obvious, I am candle obsessed. Candles are fantastic for an array of reasons because they work on so many levels to heighten the user's experience. Nothing says clean, peaceful, and ready to set the mood like a quality candle. Housed in a multipurpose natural stone vessel, the collection 93’ candle offers a delightful experience especially designed to elevate your burning experience. A combination of soft rose petals with hints of peony anchored by cedarwood and blended perfectly to emit a light soothing aroma…AAH, heaven in a jar!

4. Hand & Dish soap dispenser

The kitchen is one of the most frequented and used spaces in the home, so it doesn't hurt to have your décor help to maintain a clean and crisp look. I recently acquired a hand and dish soap dispenser from Luxury Silk Packaging KE because the mere sight of my plastic branded dish and hand soaps really irritated the lights out of me but with these new additions everything feels like one whole unit and there's a sense of cohesion in the kitchen. Also, I wash my dishes and hands WAY MORE frequently than I need to…Is this a bad thing?! #sos

5. IKEA Flower Vase

This perfect purchase happened by complete accident. I was scrolling through the IKEA website mindlessly when I came across this flower vase. First thing I noticed was its price! I honestly thought IKEA’s system had broken down so I ordered it immediately. Me and my guiltless obsession with roses have no regrets!

6. MFK Oud Silk Mood

This is one of my best winter and cold nights fragrances but lately, I have been using the tiniest spritz on my throws. The rose and the oud in this formula blend flawlessly leaving you just wanting to curl up in that throw and enjoy a cup of tea. Please note that the sillage of this fragrance is enormous and the thing about fragrances as we all should know  by now, is that they are very personal. So I'd advise you to use what you love and what your senses accept.

Fun fact: I actually use this fragrance on my linen when I want my room to smell like a 5 star hotel!!!

7.Silk Pillowcases

Have you heard someone say I sleep better when I'm sleeping on silk? Believe them! Well you haven't had the ultimate beauty sleep experience until you have slept on a silk pillowcase. The super smooth texture against your cheeks is enough to send you right into slumber land. It took me a while to be convinced so I’ll let you take your time too. But for what it's worth, they really do add a luxurious feel and look to your bed!

8. Huge Elephant Ears

No, this is not the first time I am raising a plant in my home. I have had a few in the past and until my move to Nairobi, I considered my plant tendering skills to be top tier. However, with the move none of them seemed to survive the 2 week mark. For a while, I struggled as a chronic roadside plant buyer until I discovered Purple Heart Florations. PURPLE HEART FLORATIONS saved me.  The plants I have now are not just  beautiful, thy are healthy and thriving.

The best thing about getting plants from them is the aftercare they offer. Whenever you have difficulties with your plants, they are only a phone call away. They will shower you with plant advice, what not to do, how to care for your plants etcetera etcetera.

Whichever way you choose to allow serenity, peace and love into your home, remember that decorating a home takes time! So start small and make sure to enjoy the pieces that you introduce into your space. I highly suggest that you don’t rush the process. My personal trick in creating that balance is that you can always quench your decorating thirst by investing in small items and objects that will probably bring you the same amount of joy for a lot less, while you are saving for that dinner table, or waiting for your dream bed to go on sale!

Wishing you the best for the month of March!!!

Until next time,

xxxx
